HAND PAINTED TILES by Frances Hosker

Frances studied art at Canterbury College of Art & Design. She worked as a potter for 8 years, both making and decorating the ware she produced.  
                                                 

So popular was the work that she could not make it fast enough so she decided to concentrate on the decoration alone. Frances has developed a large range of house plaques. Because each one is hand painted, unlike commercial ware which uses printed transfers, they are unique and you may have any design you like.

Floor tiles & 'brick tiles';-  These beautiful tiles, reduction fired in gas kiln could be 600 years old and are extremely strong and durable. For full details go to  Floor tile page

Made with English clay these tile have a richness not found in cheaper  Italian, Spanish or Mexican tiles which tend to be yellowy to pink. On top of the richness in the clay by firing in a reduction kiln, the flames give darker and lighter tiles just as they would have hundreds of years ago with wood and coal fired kilns.
